Richard Cornelissen

Founder and Director, Phase 2 Group

Dutch by nationality, Richard Cornelissen brings 38+ years of experience in international business for metals, products and services in the Energy Sector.

He began his career in sales of products for the energy sector. After five years he moved to a major manufacturing group, and three years later he took responsibility for the company. With a small local team he built it from three people into an industry leader in piping and valves for the Energy Sector, with 15+ companies worldwide and more than 120 colleagues. As CEO he was responsible for long-term strategy, investments, finance and operations, HR, and client and supplier relationships. The group’s activities spanned the manufacturing of piping components, trading and distribution, and the supply of engineered products to operators, EPC companies and contractors across international markets.

“I didn’t learn this in a lecture hall. I learned it at the desk, from people with decades of hands-on experience, and I’ve put it to work ever since.”

Richard first came to Dubai in 2002, when the city and the region looked very different, and has lived and worked here since 2022. His network spans oil and gas operators and EPC companies, manufacturers and mills, traders, brokers and refiners, and contacts across the UAE and GCC. He speaks Dutch, English and German fluently.

Knowledgeable. Hands-on. Reliable. Committed.A personal approach to lasting business relationships.
